RETROGRADE (Work in progress)

As a result of our Performance Lab attended by international performers from different backgrounds, we are currently devising work to shape our new show: Retrograde (provisional name).

The piece has aspects of live art, electronic music, dance and musical theatre, exploring what adulthood means for the new generations. How do we know when we become adults?

In a modern society where everything seems to shift so fast (identity, relationships, technology, careers, education, economy), old models of careers or relationships don't seem to apply to this group of international friends in their late twenties/early thirties. They have part time jobs, get drunk on Mondays and Thursdays and their free time is mostly spent on Netflix or video games. They have several Tinder lovers on their phones, always texting their romantic scenarios away. But they are not getting anywhere in life, spending entire days in pyjamas with breakfast bowls all over the living room. They no longer remember who they dreamt of becoming.

One day at 2 in the morning, they receive a phone call: Mom and Dad passed away.

They finally need to start making decisions in this endless limbo between adolescence and adulthood.
